Service plans and filters
Your warranty does not depend on buying a plan from us, and you are not locked into buying filters from us either. We offer service because some people would rather not think about it, not because you are obligated.
Maintenance on these systems is genuinely simple. Most homeowners handle the filter changes themselves, and the plans exist for the ones who would rather not.
Whole-home tank systems are mostly self-maintaining. Here is the honest list, so you can decide whether you want a plan at all.
The brine tank holds two bags. A monthly regeneration uses about 50 gallons of water, which works out at roughly $5 a month in water. That is the true running cost of a softener and nobody publishes it, so here it is.
Standard 40 to 50 pound bags, and you can buy them anywhere. BJ’s, Costco, Sam’s Club, Tractor Supply, Lowe’s, Home Depot. Buy them from whoever is closest. We do not mark salt up and we would rather you did not make a special trip for it.
If you are going through salt much faster than a bag every two to three months on a properly sized softener, something is set wrong. Tell us and we will look at it.

Ask for your specific system's maintenance schedule in writing and we will give it to you. During your first year, service support is included at no charge. After that, a service trip charge may apply depending on your location, and the exact terms are in the warranty document you get before you sign.
Whole-home tank systems are mostly self-maintaining — the valve regenerates or backwashes on its own, metered by your water use, and the media lasts years (calcite is the exception: it is consumed slowly and topped up). What needs regular attention: salt in the brine tank if you have a softener, sediment pre-filters, UV lamps annually, and RO membranes and filter stages on their cycle.
For a typical Triangle household on a properly sized softener, figure on a bag every two to three months. It depends on your hardness level and how much water you use. If you’re going through salt much faster than that, something is set wrong.

The tank and the valve’s ceramic disc are warrantied for as long as you own it. Media life depends on your water — carbon typically five to ten years, softener resin ten to fifteen. Well water with heavy iron loading is harder on media than city water.
